48V DC Surge Protector

48V DC Surge Protector Manufacturer

Since 2010, LSP has been dedicated to designing and manufacturing 48V DC Surge Protector (48V DC SPD) protecting installations from transient overvoltages that result from switching events and lightning strikes.

LSP developed a comprehensive range of Type 1+2 and Type 2 48V DC Surge Protector (48V DC SPD) used to protect equipment connected to DC power (as well as alternatives) against surges due to lightning.

Type 1+2 and Type 2 48V DC Surge Protector

48V Surge Protector (48V DC SPD) is designed to protect equipment connected to DC (and AC) power supplies from lightning surges.

It is based on varistors matched to the network voltage: the varistors have thermal disconnection devices to control any end-of-life.

These DIN rail 48V Surge Protector (48V DC SPD) are connected in parallel to the equipment being protected.

Quality Meets Reliability - 48V DC Surge Protector

From design and material selection to production, LSP meticulously refines every step to deliver efficient, stable,

and long-lasting 48V DC surge protector (48V DC SPD) and solutions.

Core Components - MOV and GDT

LSP sources globally recognized MOV and GDT to ensure 48V DC surge protector (48V DC SPD) is backed by quality assurance. High-quality MOV and GDT are the key factors that determine the quality of our SPDs.

The SPDs manufactured by LSP come with a 5-year warranty, giving customers peace of mind and long-term protection.

Widened and Thickened Metal Parts

LSP uses thickened and widened metal parts to increase the contact area, perfectly handling the surge of massive current passing through.

Our metal parts undergo a 48-hour salt spray test to effectively prevent customers from receiving SPDs with rust due to prolonged transportation.

Olid and Reliable Welding Technology

LSP uses dedicated soldering irons to prevent cold solder joints during the welding process.

This ensures that the 48V DC SPD customers receive will not experience solder joint detachment due to vibration or other factors during transportation, preventing any functionality issues.

Assembling - 48V DC Surge Protector

The assembly process of the 48V DC Surge Protector (48V DC SPD) includes carefully selecting qualified components, soldering the components, and placing the assembled unit into a protective enclosure.

What is a 48V DC Surge Protector

48V DC surge protector is designed specifically for 48V DC power systems. It is an electronic device that provides safe protection for electronic equipment, mainly used to protect devices from the impact of surge currents or voltages. When there is a sudden spike in current or voltage in the electrical circuit or communication line, the 48V DC surge protector can quickly conduct and divert the current, thereby preventing damage to other devices in the circuit from surges.

48V DC surge protector devices are typically connected in parallel with the power circuit of the load that needs protection, limiting transient voltage by diverting or restricting surge currents.

48V DC surge protector (DC SPD) is widely used in the fields of telcom communication, EV charger, and energy storage system.

48V DC Surge Protector Working Principle

The 48V DC surge protector is a voltage limiting type surge protector. The current-voltage characteristics of the voltage limiting type surge protector are strongly nonlinear, with high resistance but decreasing resistance as the surge voltage and current increase.

The working principle of the 48V DC surge protector (48V DC SPD) is also mainly based on nonlinear elements (such as varistors, gas discharge tubes, transient suppression diodes, etc.) to absorb and clamp overvoltages. During use, the 48V DC surge protector goes through three stages according to the different voltages in the power system:

  1. Normal status:
  • When the system voltage is normal, the 48V DC surge protector device is in a high-resistance state with almost zero leakage current, ensuring normal power supply to the system without affecting its operation.
  1. Overvoltage status:
  • In case of sudden peak currents or voltages due to external interference (such as lightning strikes, switch operations, start-up/shutdown of large electrical equipment) in an electric circuit or communication line, the 48V DC surge protector device can quickly conduct and divert excess voltage within a very short time (nanoseconds), limiting it within safe levels.
  • The nonlinear elements of the 48V DC surge protector device will respond rapidly by presenting low resistance states to dissipate excess voltage to ground and protect electrical equipment from damage.
  1. Recovery status:
  • After dissipation of overvoltage, the 48V DC surge protector device quickly returns to a high-resistance state without affecting normal power supply.
